The
political and economic climate in which artists are making work calls
for more innovative approaches to the marketing of that work. Few artists
have the resources to invest the thousands of dollars and number of
years it takes to establish their presence as a national touring company.
An interactive CD, Critical Mass: a Desktop Showcase is a national collaborative
project to market tour-worthy contemporary and culturally diverse artists,
in an easy to use format. It will prove to be an indispensable tool
for producers to acquaint themselves with the rich, complex, and engaging
work available today.
Critical Mass: The Desktop Showcase debuted at the Arts Presenters
conference in New York City in January, 2003, distributed to each presenter
in their conference packet. Presenters unable to attend the conference
received their copy by mail. The disk was distributed to approximately
2000 producers, prominent national funders, press and artist managers.
Critical
Mass: The Desktop Showcase is the most innovative cost-effective, long-lasting
means to put your work into the hands of those making the decisions
to bring work to their communities. We are currently accepting submissions
